European Orthopaedic Manufacturer acquires Australian Operations

Monday 1 June, 2009 - Lima Corporate, an European based orthopaedic implants company has agreed with Orthotech Pty Ltd, distributor of Lima products in Australia and New Zealand that Lima will create two new entities, Lima Orthopaedics Australia and Lima Orthopaedics New Zealand. The two new companies will deal directly with orthopaedic surgeons in the respective countries.

Lima and Orthotech have shared a long standing relationship since 1995, during which time they have developed Lima hip and shoulder product portfolio and established the SMR Shoulder as the leading shoulder system within Australia and New Zealand.
With 36 staff working across seven locations in capital cities of both countries, Lima Orthopaedics Australia and Lima Orthopaedics New Zealand will be among the largest entities within the Lima Corporate group. The transition will be assisted by Orthotech with approximately 24 of its staff transferring to the new established companies. Lima Corporate has appointed Jonathan Lettin Managing Director of Lima Orthopaedics Australia and Lima Orthopaedics New Zealand.

The new entities will bring to the markets of Australia and New Zealand Lima’s an innovative multi-planar hexagonal cell structure imitating the structure of trabecular bone. Clinical studies have demonstrated excellent osteointegration and a Bone Implant Contact (BIC) of 95% in 26 weeks. Trabecular Titanium can be applied across a large range of prosthetic implants,from primary and revision acetabular cups to cemented cups and glenoid cages.
